I switched to Vonage because I thought I would save a lot of money, I signed up for a year plan for $9.99 per month. I make international calls to Zambia and their rate is currently at $0.12 per minute. If their taxes were not very high it would been okay, below is a breakdown of the extra taxes/charges I have to pay. I total bill was around $85. I will need to find another provider in by next week. This month I am paying Government Mandated Taxes & Fees $18.53 Break down State Sales Tax $4.73 State 911 Fee $1.65 Federal Program Fee $8.40 State Gross Receipts Surcharge $3.75 In addition to this I have to pay Surcharges $4.98 Breakdown Emergency 911 and information Services Fee $1.99 Regulatory, Compliance and Intellectual Property Fee $2.99 Total in extra charges $23.51 About 27.5% of my bill is taxes and charges. That is unacceptable.
