Officials from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) have announced
that the new system software update for the PSP will immediately enable
all owners of the newer PSP Slim & Lite model to make and receive
calls using VOIP (voice over Internet protocol) telephone service Skype.
Available today, the update to firmware version 3.90 only allows Skype
functionality on the new PSP Slim & Lite version of the console and
not the older PSP 1000 series of consoles. The Skype software allows
users to make free telephone calls over the Internet to other Skype
users or make paid for calls to traditional landline and mobile phones.
