Yak announced today the launch of yakForFree, a Voice over Internet Protocol software program, similar to Skype, that allows users to make - and receive - free unlimited voice and video calls to anyone with the software.
To take advantage of "free" calls, both callers must have the yakforfree software installed on their personal computer. Users wishing to phone someone who doesn't have yakforFree installed on their computer will need to upgrade to one of Yak's WorldCity VoIP paid services.
Currently has only one package yaktoAnyone available. Under the plan, users would purchase pre-paid credits and then would be able to make outbound calls to any regular domestic or international landline or cellular phone number. Calls to the U.S. and Canada would be charged at 2 cents U.S. per minute.
The company will be rolling out several new services in January including one that provides the user with unlimited inbound and outbound services.
