Venture capital digs deeper into VoIP industry

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Dow Jones/AP) -- Despite the flurry of investments in the Internet telephone market, opportunities are still available for venture capitalists -- just not in those companies who connect the calls.

Over the past few months, companies like Homdel, N.J.-based Vonage and Luxembourg's Skype have garnered a lot of attention from the investment community with services that let people make Internet calls on the cheap. The intense interest from VCs has resulted in some predicting the end of the Voice Over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, gold rush.
